NETBIO Special Pre-Conditioned Stocker/Feeder Calf Sales

The Northeast Texas Beef Improvement Organization (NETBIO) is a group of independent cow/calf producers and agribusiness representatives working together to enhance the beef industry in Northeast Texas.  NETBIO works in conjunction with the Texas A&M- Commerce and the AgriLife Office in Sulphur Springs.

The goal of the organization is to establish a reputation for the area as a supplier of quality beef calves that will perform when they leave the cow.  That includes utilizing quality sires and encouraging good management practices from weaning until the calf is ready for the NETBIO Pre-Conditioned Stocker and Feeder Calf Sale where producers can offer their pre-conditioned calves and yearlings in load lot quantities.

NETBIO is recognized across the State of Texas and the Southern United States as the leader in its reputable offering of pre-condtioned calves.  Not only has NETBIO enhanced the beef industry both in quality and quantity in Northeast Texas, but it has reached out beyond the borders of Texas and into dozens of Texas counties.

NETBIO today has more than 700 members who participate in the pre-conditioning program and marketing opportunities.  Those members reside in 5 states outside of Texas, and membership covers over 43 Texas counties.

NETBIO also gives back to the community in many ways besides supporting beef cattle producers.  Each year the organization presents Jim Jacobs Memorial Scholarships to four college agriculture students, as well as a scholarship in the name of Dr. J.D. Norris, one of the founders of NETBIO.

************ATTENTION!!!!****************************

Due to the trends in the feeder cattle market, all Heifers weighing 650 lbs and up will be palpated and charged a $3 vet fee.  Any bred Heifers will be charged back to their owners and the owner will be notified and given the opportunity to pick up the heifer or have Sulphur Springs Livestock sell them at our next regular Monday sale.  Bred animals will also have a $20 P.O. fee.

This change in our program is due to the excess amount of bred Heifers that are being received at the feed yards we have been selling our preconditioned cattle to.   Sulphur Springs Livestock has been working with the feed yards to take back these bred Heifers (34 bred Heifers returned in the July sale alone) and the process has become expensive and not conforming to the NETBIO procedure. This has been a problem at feed yards for years but now they are becoming more strict and asking that we take care of the issue prior to arrival.

We want all of our customers to be fully aware of the initialization of this new part of our program. This is the way we feel that we can market your cattle to the best of our ability and continue to sell to a larger selection of feed yards.

Keep an eye on our calendar to be sure you are ready for our next sale!
